Mustangs score 25 runs combined in 2 wins over Peebles

The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs scored 25 combined runs in a two-day span to start the week with consecutive wins over Southern Hills Athletic Conference counterpart, the Peebles Indians, winning by scores of 11-1 and 14-0.
Monday (April 21) at Lynchburg-Clay High School, the dominate LCHS victory saw the first-place team in the SHAC Division I standings win by an 11-1 score, as Lynchburg-Clay scored at least one run in all six innings they were at the plate.
In the first two innings the Mustangs scored one run in each of those innings, taking a 2-0 lead. LCHS outscored the Indians 3-1 in the third inning for a 5-1 advantage, and the Mustangs in the bottom of the fourth added another three-run inning to their overall scoring total, increasing their lead to 8-1.
From there, LCHS scored one run in the fifth and two final runs in the bottom the sixth, sealing the run-rule victory in six innings.
Peebles finished the game with three hits and three errors, but the Mustangs were much stronger with a 10-hit game and they committed zero errors.
Four Lynchburg-Clay batters had two hits each, including Christian Flowers who was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Trevor Niehaus hit a home run for the Mustangs, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Quin Wells hit a double as he finished the game 2-for-3 two runs and two RBI. Teammate Cody Bell also hit a double, finishing 2-for-3 with one run, three RBI and a walk.
Josiah Burns ended his day at 1-for-2 with one hit and two walks. Tanner Roberts went 1-for-2 with one run, one RBI and one walk. Elam Faust, Flowers, and Roberts were all hit by a pitch. Steals were credited to Faust, Burns (two), Niehaus, and Roberts (two).
Flowers was the winning pitcher with six innings pitched, allowing one earned run on three hits and one walk, while finishing with six strikeouts. Flowers threw 70 pitches, 46 for strikes.

As good as the game on Monday was for Lynchburg-Clay, the next day was even better as the Mustangs won on Tuesday (April 22) by a 14-0 score at Peebles High School.
LCHS ended the game with 12 hits and no errors, while Peebles collected four hits and committed four errors.
The Mustangs scored runs in five different innings, and they wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, starting with a two-run top of the first, followed with three runs in the top of the second. They added two runs in the third, then added two runs in the fifth, and five runs in the top of the sixth.
Quin Wells had a three-hit day for LCHS, going 3-for-5 with a double and six RBI.
Tanner Roberts was 2-for-5 with one RBI. Kristian Beachy went 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
The Mustangs also had Elam Faust finish 1-for-2 with a triple, four runs and a walk.
Cole Wells ended the game at 1-for-2 with three runs, one RBI and three walks. Cody Bell also had one hit at 1-for-4 with one run and a walk. Trevor Niehaus was 1-for-4 with a run.
Also for LCHS, Asher Faust was 1-for-2 with a run. Josiah Burns finished with one run and two walks. Christian Flowers collected two walks and scored a run. Elam Faust and Niehaus were each hit by a pitch, with Elam Faust being hit twice.
LCHS also had 10 steals with Asher Faust and Jay Codrey each having two. Also having steals were Elam Faust, Burns, Bell, Roberts, Beachy and Quin Wells.
Quin Wells was also the winning pitcher, throwing six innings, allowing no runs on four hits and no walks, all while collecting seven strikeouts. He threw 75 pitches, 55 for strikes.
The wins improve the Mustangs to an overall record of 10-2.
