Indians season closes in Div. III District quarterfinals against Jackson

The No. 7 seeded Hillsboro Indians traveled to face the No. 2 seeded Jackson Ironmen in their Division III SE District Quarterfinals Tuesday at Jackson High School, where their season ended with a 50-36 loss to the host Ironmen.
Earlier this year during regular-season action in the Frontier Athletic Conference, Jackson defeated the Indians 56-39 and 56-33.
Hillsboro (6-16) held the lead by one point at 10-9 after the first quarter ended with Brady Juillerat making a 3-pointer and two-point field goal, plus Dawson Barnett sank a two-point basket, and Jack Howland scored three points off a two-point bucket and a free throw.
Jackson (20-3) came back and won the second frame at 10-7 for a score of 19-17 after two quarters with the Ironmen taking the lead into the halftime break. The second-quarter scoring for the Indians was five points by Juillerat with another 3-pointer and two-point basket, followed by two points from Howland.
HHS was held to two points in the third quarter which was a two-pointer by Howland. Jackson scored 16 points in the third quarter for a 35-19 lead after three frames. HHS won the fourth quarter by two points at 17-15, but the deficit was too much to overcome as the Ironmen won by 14 points.
Hillsboro's fourth-frame scoring included nine points by Howland as he was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line, plus he made a two-point basket and a 3-pointer.
HHS also had a 3-pointer from both Juillerat and Mason Dumpert in the fourth quarter, and Jeven Hochstuhl made a two-point basket.
For the game, the Indians were led by Howland with 16 points, finishing the contest with four two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and they were 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Juillerat totaled 13 points off three 3-pointers and two two-point field goals.
Dumpert totaled three points, and finishing the game with two points each were Barnett and Hochstuhl.
Team totals for the Indians included eight two-point baskets, five 3-pointers, and they were 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Jackson team totals were 18 two-pointers, three 3-pointers, and they went 5-of-8 in their free-throw attempts.
The Ironmen were led by Charlie Woodard with 13 points by making five two-point field goals and a 3-pointer.
JHS also had final scoring totals from Stephen Jenkins (9), Ryan Seimetz (6), Bodhi Wolford (9), Jax Carroll (9) and CJ Crabtree (4).
The Ironmen (20-3) will play again on Friday, Feb. 27 at Ohio University at the Convocation Center against fellow FAC member, No. 3 seeded Chillicothe (16-6) at 8 p.m.
Seniors for Hillsboro are Brady Juillerat, Jeven Hochstuhl, Zack Brown, JaHari Pitts and Mason Dumpert.
