Hillsboro Lady Indians place 3rd at 2026 Div. I OHSAA State Bowling Championships; Ison state runner-up

The 2025-26 season for the Hillsboro Lady Indians bowling team came to a close Saturday evening, as they had a strong finish to a championship season by placing third overall in the Division I OHSAA State Bowling Championships. 

Taking place at H.P. Lanes in Columbus, the Lady Indians had a dynamic effort in their final event of the year, as they were first place in the regular games played and Baker games at the state event with a score of 3,720, including a regular-game score total (three games) of 2,801, and a Baker games score (five games) of 919. 

Baker games scores for the Lady Indians included: 183 (Baker 1), 186 (Baker 2), 220 (Baker 3), 149 (Baker 4) and 181 (Baker 5). 

Hillsboro sophomore Rylie Ison was the individual state runner-up with a score of 667, as her game scores were 212 (Game 1), 227 (Game 2) and 228 (Game 3). She trailed the eventual state champion by only 12 pins. 

Hillsboro also had senior Sidney Bayless place 28th overall with a score of 543, as her game totals included scores of 210, 182 and 151. 

Next for the Lady Indians was junior Rylee Moyer placing 36th overall with a score of 538 as she had game totals of 150, 186 and 202. 

Hillsboro junior Camilyn Miller was 36th overall with her final total being 527. Miller’s game scores were 172, 151 and 204. 

In 37th place for the Lady Indians was junior Madison Nichols, who finished with a 526 score with games that included scores of 189, 164 and 173. 

The state championships had a total of 104 girls bowling in the event, as Hillsboro had all five of their bowlers finish in the Top 40. 

In the Division I Championship Round, Hillsboro entered as the No. 1 seed and won their quarterfinal match against No. 8 seeded Clayton Northwest with scores of 216-159-160, compared to Clayton Northwest’s scores of 123-138-122. 

HHS saw their season end in the semifinals where they fell to No. 4 seeded Celina, as Celina had scores of 159-181-157-153-161. Hillsboro battled strong, forcing five rounds, with their scores being 202-169-151-208-157. 

The finals saw Celina win the team state championship over Gahanna Lincoln, who was the No. 6 seeded team entering the championship round of the state tournament. 

This season, the Lady Indians had many accomplishments, including going undefeated in the regular season. They were Frontier Athletic Conference regular-season champions, and they added the FAC Tournament championship to their accolades. 

HHS also had a Division I East/Southeast District championship this year.
