Hillsboro cross-country takes 2nd place at McClain Invitational

GREENFIELD — The McClain Tigers hosted their annual McClain Opener Cross-Country Invitational on Saturday (Aug. 23) at Mitchell Park where teams from various conferences competed to start the 2025 season.
In the boys competition, the East Clinton Astros won with a score of 42 points. Hillsboro was second place in the boys team standings with a 52 score, and in third place was Zane Trace at 59 points.
Fairfield was fourth place overall with 105 points, followed in fifth place by Whiteoak at 108 points. The sixth-place team was host McClain at 143 points, and in seventh place was Miami Trace at 160 points.
There were five teams competing in the girls event where Miami Trace won with a score of 30 points. In second place was Hillsboro at 56 points, and the third-place team was Zane Trace at 79 points. McClain was fourth place in their home event with 91 points, and in fifth place was Fairfield with a score of 98 points.
Winning the boys race was East Clinton senior Dru Simmons with a time of 18:38. In second place was Hillsboro freshman Luke Thompson at 18:43. The third-place time was East Clinton senior Jackson Seabaugh at 18:48. The fourth-place finisher was Zane Trace junior Johnny Reed at 19:02, and in fifth place was East Clinton junior Landen Kahn at 19:07.
The remaining HHS times were: 6, Steven Ison (19:32); 10, Luke Letts (20:01); 14, Ryan Howland (20:07); 20, Trenton Gulley (21:11); 25, Kameron Evers (22:05); 37, Cooper Swope (25:19) and 41, Jayden Wells (26:23).
McClain times included: 18, Isaac Mincey (20:57); 30, Zander Lyons (23:20); 32, Jayden Burgess (23:58); 33, Dartanyen Stovall (23:59); 42, Chris Lanning (26:46); 44, Owen Sykes (27:32); 48, Joseph King (29:30); 51, Jack Judkins (30:20) and 52, Riley Butcher (32:39).
Fairfield final times were: 6, Vincent Ballard (19:14); 13, Zach Ahsaruk (20:07); 17, Blake Walters (20:31); 38, Korbin Hixon (25:35); and 40, Noah Kerns (26:14).
Whiteoak’s times were 12, Shane Mitchell-Cox (20:06); 19, Keegan Eyre (21:06); 23, Tre Lamb (21:43); 29, Kenyon Hughes (23:17) and 31, Shawn Mitchell-Cox (23:50).
The girls race winner was Miami Trace sophomore Alli Knecht with a time of 21:42. Hillsboro senior Taylor Thompson was second place at 21:57. The rest of the Top 5 were Tori Peterson (MTHS) 22:12, Lila Banks (MHS) 22:52, and Quinn Swope (HHS), 23.12.
Hillsboro remaining times included: 7, Olivia Covault (23:43); 22, Abriann Anderson (28:40); 27, Alizeh Hudson (30:06) and 41, Sofia Mezo-Mil (34:58).
Final times for McClain were: 18, Olivia Stegbauer (27:55); 23, Laura Barber (29:03); 26, Laura Stevenson (29:44); 37, Alaina Best (33:37) and 38, Elise Morgan (33:45).
Fairfield’s times were: 13, Iryna Reeves (25:35); 16, Madelyn Wiseman (27:23); 20, Allyson George (28:16); 33, Emelia Roehm (32:58) and 35, Trinity Everhart (33:14).
Whiteoak had times of: 17, Aubrey Swafford (27:53) and 34, Tessa Frazer (33:03).
