McClain Lady Tigers top Paint Valley

The McClain Lady Tigers faced the Paint Valley Lady Bearcats on Tuesday evening, where they defeated PVHS by a 6-3 score in non-conference play. 

MHS — who was the home team in a game switched to Paint Valley High School due to field conditions — scored two runs in the bottom of the first, and after PVHS made it a 2-1 score in the top of the third, McClain added three runs in the bottom of the third for a 5-1 lead. 

The Lady Tigers scored one final run in the bottom of the fourth, while PVHS scored a run in the top of the sixth, and one final run in the seventh inning. 

MHS out-hit Paint Valley 10-8, and each team had an error. 

Three Lady Tiger players finished with two hits apiece. Brie Cummins finished 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, as she hit a home run in the win. 

Leah Lovett was 2-for-3 with a run, and Amaya Ryan also went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Milla Everetts finished 1-for-4 with one run as her hit was a double. Lindsey Hutchinson ended the day at 1-for-2 with a run, one RBI and a walk. 

Kenzie Wise went 1-for-3 with two RBI. while teammate Hayley Worthen was 1-for-3. Both Wise and Worthen hit a double for their hit in the non-conference contest. 

Steals were credited to Cummins (two), Lovett, Olivia Stegbauer and Wise. 

Worthen was the winning pitcher, finishing with seven innings pitched. She allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits and four walks, finishing the game with 10 strikeouts. 

McClain now stands with an overall record of 7-11 this season.
