Whiteoak wins by 6 points against Zane Trace

Scoring double figures in three of four quarters played on Wednesday night, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats earned their second win of the week — and fourth win of the season — by defeating the host Zane Trace Lady Pioneers, 45-39.

Whiteoak’s six-point win saw them lead 13-8 at the conclusion of the opening quarter, followed by them winning the second quarter at 12-11 for a halftime advantage of 25-19.

In the third quarter, Zane Trace outscored WHS by a 15-8 differential, only to see Whiteoak dominate the fourth frame at 12-5 for the six-point victory.

Kylee Hamm led the way in the scoring column for Whiteoak, scoring 18 points in the win as she made two 3-pointers, five two-point baskets and she was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. Hamm also added nine rebounds and a steal in the non-conference win.

Jaylie Parr totaled 13 points with three two-point field goals, one 3-pointer and she went 4-of-8 in her free throw attempts. Parr also had five rebounds, one assist and three steals.

WHS also had six points from Lydia Carr (one 3-pointer), three points scored by Bri Hill, two points each from Addison Roberts and Torie Potts, and one point from Molly McMullen.

As a team, WHS totaled 41 rebounds, four 3-pointers, seven assists, two blocks (Hill, McMullen) and committed 12 turnovers.

WHS shot 30.8 percent from the field and were 9-of-20 from the free-throw line.

Whiteoak now stands at 4-1 overall, and they are 3-0 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference.

Lady Tigers take down Chillicothe for road FAC win

Behind a 26-point effort from freshman Paisley Pryor, the McClain Lady Tigers earned a big Frontier Athletic Conference win Wednesday evening against the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers, as MHS won the road conference game by a 54-29 score.

MHS scored 15 points in each of the first two quarters, while CHS scored five first quarter points and eight points in the second for a McClain 30-13 halftime lead. In the second half, the Lady Tigers scored nine points in the third and 15 points in the fourth quarter. CHS scored 11 points in the third frame and added five points in the fourth quarter.

Pryor’s 26 points consisted of seven two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and she was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Kaitlyn Jett was the second-leading scorer with 11 points as she made two 3-pointers, two two-point baskets and was 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.

The rest of McClain’s scoring included Lily Barnes (5), Anna Eikenberry (4), Luca Matesic (3), Haylee Havens (2), Katie Cook (2) and Brenna Wright (1).

MHS shot 45 percent from beyond the arc with five made 3-pointers out of 11 attempts with Pryor having two, Jett with two and Matesic with one.

MHS finished 11-of-17 from the free-throw line.

Lady Mustangs fall to Unioto

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs faced a very strong and competitive Unioto Lady Shermans team Wednesday evening and fell by a score of 73-36 at UHS in non-conference action.

UHS led 27-11 at the end of the first quarter, and following a 22-8 second frame in favor of the home team UHS squad, LCHS trailed 49-19 at halftime.

LCHS scored seven points in the third and 10 points in the fourth quarter. UHS in the second half added 16 points in the third and eight points in the fourth frame.

In all, LCHS committed 15 turnovers.

Leading Lynchburg-Clay in scoring were Macy Etienne and Madison McMullen with nine points each.

Next for LCHS were Addison West and Jade Massey with six points each, and from there the scoring for LCHS included Ella Barry with four points and Avery Shope with two points.

Etienne made LC’s lone 3-pointer in the loss.

LCHS totaled 15 two-point baskets and were 3-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Milee Smith led UHS with 17 points.

LCHS is 2-0 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference and 2-2 overall following the loss to UHS.

Lady Lions win by 24 points over Ripley

Thursday night was a night for winning by the Fairfield Lady Lions as they dominated the Ripley Lady Blue Jays in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action, defeating the visiting Ripley Lady Blue Jays by 24 points in their 49-25 victory.

Fairfield led by five points when the first quarter closed by an 11-6 score, then following a 20-9 second quarter it was FHS leading 31-15 at halftime.

Another 11-point quarter — this time the third frame — saw Fairfield hold a lead of 42-24, as RHS had another nine-point frame.

In the final quarter, FHS won the frame at 7-1.

For the Lady Lions, Kelsey Clark led the team in scoring with 16 points, as she made five two-point baskets and two 3-pointers.

Clark added six rebounds, one assist and four steals.

Faith Donley finished with 16 points, as she totaled four two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and she went 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Donley also collected nine rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block.

FHS also had nine points from Kassi Miller (three 3-pointers), and she also collected three rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Other scoring for FHS included Isabelle Hale with five points, Rilee Quickle with two points, Jaeden Drury with two points and Meri Jackson with two points.

As a team, FHS shot 38.5 percent from the field and also had 24 rebounds, 11 assists, 16 steals and two blocks. FHS committed 15 turnovers.

The win moved Fairfield to 2-1 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, and they are 2-2 overall.
