Virginia Lt. Governor Winsome Sears tells the crowd, “You are preserving America for the next generation.” Sears, a black Republican who served as an electrician in the Marine Corps, says that the way to preserve America is to support the U.S. Constitution – and she makes this point with an unflinching discussion of racism, arguing that America has made progress because of, not in spite of, our dedication to the Constitution.

Learn the value of deep breathing and attempting to see the other side of the pancake, no matter how thin it is. Then, you can hopefully have discussions instead of explosions. Now…if only I could remember to take my own advice.

Congress’ oversight authority is the last bulwark against the total erosion of justice. When you have leadership at DOJ, FBI, and the intelligence community all bending the knee to radical agendas to feed their own egos for the sole purpose of maintaining power, someone must answer the call.

Leaders with character will inspire trust. Leaders who articulate and live by a core set of principles are essential. Ultimately, a thriving democracy requires leaders who serve the public and who possess the moral courage and strength to do so with honor and integrity.

Unfair foreign competition is a massive problem for Ohio companies, particularly from countries like China, where the government much of the economy. And our trade laws haven’t kept up with all the ways that foreign competition can cheat and get around the rules.

Since 2016, the DHS Office of Inspector General and the Government Accountability Office (GAO) have issued 25 reports examining staffing issues at our borders, but 80 percent of their recommendations have been closed without yielding tangible results at DHS.

The IRS has many deeply concerning issues to fix: abysmal customer service; leaks of taxpayer data; allegations of unjust targeting and preferential treatment in high-profile cases; destruction of taxpayer-filed documents; and more. The IRS should be focused on fixing all of those problems to make the agency function better for taxpayers.  

Conservatives must also compete more effectively for the hearts and minds of the “magic middle” – swing voters who decide elections. Reaching and persuading swing voters requires different messengers, messages and message amplification than those conservatives currently employ.

Special Counsel John Durham’s final report faults the FBI for opening the Trump-Russia collusion investigation on baseless grounds and relying on Hillary Clinton-funded material to pursue it, all while ignoring a warning that Clinton was plotting to frame Trump as a Russian asset. Yet, Durham does not address the Clinton campaign’s equally central tie to Russiagate’s other foundational allegation: that Russia interfered in the 2016 election by hacking Democratic party servers and releasing the material through Wikileaks to help elect Trump.

The refusal of FBI Director Wray last week to honor a congressional subpoena and turn over an unclassified document to the House Oversight Committee should therefore come as no surprise to anyone, even more so since the document in question could potentially end the presidency of Joe Biden.

Holy Communion matters because when you receive Him, Jesus enkindles the fire of His love within you. Jesus has chosen the common food of bread and wine to place His very self within you. Earthly food keeps you alive. Heavenly food gives you life.

This is divided government. House Republicans control only one-sixth of government spending decisions. This is just our first step to get our country back onto the path of fiscal responsibility. House Republicans have had less than 150 days in the majority. We reigned in trillions in spending while there is a Democrat in the White House and Democrats control the Senate.
