Time is running out for individuals interested in beginning a career in nursing through Southern State Community College’s Practical Nursing (PN) program. Applications are being accepted through October 31, 2026, for the Spring 2027 cohort, with classes beginning in January.

A Cleveland man and former U.S. Department of Agriculture program director were sentenced to six months in federal prison for conspiring to bill the federal government about $400,000 for work never performed. “Jamarea Grant conspired with his uncle to line their pockets with hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars,” U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanette Pirro said in a statement.

The Supreme Court of Ohio ruled today that it cannot order the Sandusky County Board of Elections to remove a suspended judge seeking reelection from the Nov. 3 general election ballot.

Countywide curfew will commence Oct. 1 for all persons under the age of 18 years. The curfew will run through Oct. 31 and require all persons under the age of 18 years to be off the streets and in their homes by 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and by midnight Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

On Sept. 12 at 6:51 p.m. while members of the Paint Creek Joint EMS & Fire District were on the scene of flooding in the area of 200 N. 11th Street in Greenfield, they had a firefighter get pulled into a culvert pipe. 

The Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that troopers will conduct an OVI checkpoint this week in Brown County to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The driver was identified as Larry D. Nunley, 56, of New Vienna. Nunley was charged with failure to comply, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A passenger, identified as Kristopher W. Bennett, 38, of New Vienna, was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
