On December 16, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. the Greenfield Police Department received a report that a green and silver 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck had been stolen from the parking lot behind the Greenfield VFW Hall, 214 Jefferson St.  The keys had been left in the vehicle according to the owner.  At 11:06 p.m. an officer on patrol spotted the stolen vehicle traveling in the 500 blk. of South St.  The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, and the driver fled up Seventh St. to Jefferson St.  Once on Jefferson, the driver accelerated and attempted to elude the pursuing officer, traveling at high rates of speed along various streets throughout the city.  Highland County sheriff deputies and Ohio State Patrol troopers responded to assist with the pursuit, which lasted about 20 minutes and eventually led to the driver turning onto Blaine St. from S. Seventh St. and crashing the vehicle into parked vehicle and a house at 710 Blaine St.  Both the driver and passenger in the stolen vehicle exited and attempted to flee on foot.  The driver, identified as Michael S. Calhoun, 44, Greenfield, was apprehended after a short foot chase.  While being taken into custody, Calhoun resisted arrest and the officer received minor injuries during the scuffle.  The passenger, Cecil R. Carter, 45, Frankfort, was also arrested near the scene.  Both vehicles received disabling damage and the house was also damaged.  Calhoun was charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, OVI, fleeing & eluding, and DUS.  Carter was charged with receiving stolen property.  Both were taken to the Highland County Justice Center in lieu of bond, and the officer was treated for his injuries at Adena Greenfield Medical Center and released.
