Southern State Community College is pleased to announce that three current SSCC students have been named to the All-Ohio Academic Team.

The students, joining other honorees from Ohio’s community college system, were honored with scholarships for their excellence in academics, leadership, and community service.

A ceremony and luncheon to recognize this year’s award winners were held at the Ohio Statehouse on April 23 as part of Community College Month in Ohio. SSCC President Nicole Roades and PTK Adviser Sam Ginn joined the students and their parents at this special event.

The All-Ohio Academic Team program is a collaboration between the OACC and Phi Theta Kappa national honor society.

Logan Savage was assigned to the First Team and received a $1,000 scholarship, medallion, and a certificate. Wyatt Osborn was assigned to the Second Team and received a $500 scholarship, medallion, and a certificate, and Bentley Schweickart was assigned to the Third Team and received a $250 scholarship, medallion, and a certificate.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Logan, Wyatt, and Bentley,” said Dr. Nicole Roades, president of Southern State Community College, “three of our most outstanding students. On behalf of Southern State, we could not be more proud to have these fine individuals affiliated with our college. I am pleased to see them rewarded and honored for their academic commitment and personal discipline.”

These top-performing students were nominated by SSCC faculty and staff, and receive the scholarships to assist in transferring to universities to complete their bachelor’s degree requirements.

The All-Ohio Academic Team also includes high-achieving students who are planning to move directly into the workforce.
