A well-received vintage bridal exhibit at the Highland House Museum has been extended through Aug. 31 and will conclude with a second historical wedding recreation.

The exhibit was originally scheduled to be on display from June 8-July 27.

If you are interested in the dresses and customs of weddings from the 1800s to mid-1900s, then mark your calendar to attend the vintage bridal exhibit being sponsored by the Highland County Historical Society at the Highland House Museum, 151 East Main St., Hillsboro.

The museum is open Fridays and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Private tours are available. Call (937) 393-3392 to schedule.

The grand opening of the exhibit was held with the recreation of an actual March 1803 wedding held in New Market. If you missed this ceremony, please make plans to attend Aug. 31 at noon.

The groom and bride, Michael Stroup and Polly Walker, will be played by Jeff and Tara Beery, with Bob Brown portraying Squire Oliver Ross, who presided over the original ceremony.

A reception and short program will follow before the exhibit opens for the last time.
