The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) wants to remind Ohioans that rabies in wildlife continues to pose a risk to pets and people.

The Xenia post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred over the weekend in Greene County. Gerald W. Freeze, 49, of Springfield was pronounced dead by the Greene County Coroner's Office, after crashing on River Road, one mile east of S.R. 72 in Miami Township.

Voters will decide whether to endorse a 304-page law, known in Ohio as Senate Bill 5, that Republicans passed to curb the power of unions and reduce the amount local governments spend on retirement and health benefits for police, firefighters, teachers and other public employees.

Congress faces a Nov. 2 deadline to approve funding for the proposed uranium enrichment plant in Piketon. Maryland-based USEC has spent three years trying to secure a $2 billion federal loan guarantee to build its American Centrifuge Project in southern Ohio.
