Lions dominate Fayetteville for SHAC win
Fairfield had a dominant effort on Tuesday night, gaining a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win over the host Fayetteville Rockets, 17-7 in five innings.
The Lions totaled 13 hits and committed three errors, and their opponent had seven hits and four errors.
Fairfield’s runs came with one run in the first, two runs in the second and one run in the third, then the Lions exploded for 13 runs in the fourth inning. The Rockets scored three runs in the bottom of the third and four runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Four Lions had two hits, as Dow Moon was 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, two walks, a double and a steal.
Gabe Fouch was 2-for-4 with a double, one run, two RBI and a steal. Corbin Willey finished 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, a walk, and one of the hits was a double. Cade Miller ended the day 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI, two doubles and a steal.
Zane Matthews was 1-for-3 with two runs and three RBI, and Landry Hattan scored two runs, earned two RBI and walked once. Wyatt Willey finished 1-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, one HBP and collected a steal.
Owen Larrick finished 1-for-2 with a run and a walk, and teammate Blaine Fauber was 1-for-1 at the plate.
Cade Miller was the winning pitcher, ending the day with 4.1 innings pitched, allowing six runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks. Miller collected six strikeouts. Noah Allering pitched 0.2 innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and a walk.
Fairfield is now 6-2 overall this season.
