Highland County Sports Recap: Oct. 5-7
The following are recaps from recent Highland County boys soccer, girls soccer and volleyball games.

BOYS SOCCER
Mustangs fall to Wilmington
The Lynchburg-Clay boys soccer team hosted the Wilmington Hurricane Wednesday evening, where they lost the non-conference home game by a 2-1 score.
For the Mustangs, their lone goal was scored by Braedon West, with the assist from Kellin Storer.
At goalie for LCHS was Isaac Eyre with seven saves.

BOYS SOCCER
Fairfield shut out by Fayetteville
The Fairfield Lions were shut out on Wednesday (Oct. 4) by the host Fayetteville Rockets, 4-0.
In the game for the Lions, Carson Jenkins had eight saves, and Zane Matthews had one save.
Goals for Fayetteville were scored by Richard Luncan with three and Teegan Doughman with one.

GIRLS SOCCER
Lady Lions score 6 goals in win over Fayetteville
It was a winning Wednesday (Oct. 4) for the Fairfield Lady Lions, with the team gaining a SHAC road win over the Fayetteville Lady Rockets, 6-0.
The Lady Lions had three goals from Kennedy Zink for the hat trick, two goals by Faith Donley and a goal by Ava Hooper.
Assists were credited to Zink with two and Donley with one.
Claire Newkirk was the goalie for the Lady Lions in the shutout, with the junior totaling 10 saves in the conference win.

North Adams takes down Hillsboro
The Hillsboro Lady Indians lost in four sets on Wednesday (Oct. 4) on the road against the North Adams Lady Green Devils in non-conference action.
HHS won set two at 27-25, but lost set one (25-15), set three (25-20) and set four (25-17).
Leading in kills for HHS was Cora Akers with 12, while Samantha Tipton totaled nine.
The aces leaders were Tylee Davis and Camryn Spruell with four each. Leading in blocks was Tipton with four, followed by Akers, Davis and Spruell with three each, and Allie Roush had two.
The digs leaders were Davis with 30, Halle Reveal with 20 and Akers with 16. Also with digs were Perkins (11), Kayla Seeling (6), Tipton (3), Ryan Wagoner (1), Addison Huff (10) and Roush (3).
Leading in assists was Seeling with 14.

VOLLEYBALL
LCHS volleyball loses to Western Indians
On Wednesday (Oct. 4), the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs traveled to Western Latham and lost in three straight sets to the host Lady Indians in non-conference volleyball action.
LCHS lost by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 26-24.
For LCHS, Addy Carraher led with six kills, and next was Halle Greene with four.
The aces leader was Ava Doughman with three, while Allison Rockey, Carraher and Greene each totaled two aces.
LCHS saw Joslyn Rockey lead the way with 23 digs, while Carraher had 18, Allison Rockey totaled 17 and Avery Shope finished with 13 digs.
LC’s assist leader was Ava McLaughlin with eight.

VOLLEYBALL
Whiteoak earns win against Georgetown
Taking just three sets to win their non-conference game Wednesday (Oct. 4), the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats defeated Georgetown.
WHS won by scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-13.
The Lady ’Cats were led by Brianna Hill, Kylee Hamm and Lydia Carr with four kills each.
The aces leader was Hill with 10, and next was Madison Schum with four.
Hamm also had Whiteoak’s only block. Hill was the WHS leader in digs with nine. Leading in assists was Phillips with 13, followed by Claire Ames with nine.

VOLLEYBALL
Fairfield wins in 5 sets at Ripley
In a game played at Ripley High School (Oct. 5), the Fairfield Lady Lions defeated the Ripley Lady Blue Jays in five sets, winning the match at 3-2.
The SHAC win by FHS saw them win set one (25-17), set four (25-23) and set five (16-14).
Ripley won set two (26-24) and set three (25-19).
For the Lady Lions, Jobey Hattan had 26 kills, and next was Mackenzie Anderson totaling 13 kills.
Kelsey Clark finished with 51 assists, and the aces leader was Remi Moon with four.
Leading in digs for FHS were Hattan with 27 and Jadi Howland with 21. Other dig totals were Moon with 18, Clark with 17 and Haley Crabtree with 11.
The blocks leaders were McKinley Cox and Emily Taylor with two each.

McClain volleyball defeats Hillsboro for FAC win
In a game played on Thursday, Oct. 5, the McClain Lady Tigers defeated the host Hillsboro Lady Indians for the Frontier Athletic Conference victory.
MHS won sets two, three and four by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-23. Hillsboro won the first set at 25-23.
For the Lady Indians, HHS was led in kills by Cora Akers with 13, while Addison Huff led the Lady Indians with three aces.
HHS had four total blocks, with those coming from Camryn Spruell and Samantha Tipton with two each.
In the digs category, Hillsboro had Tylee Davis with 28, and with 12 digs each were Akers and Halle Reveal.
The assists leader for HHS was Davis with 16, followed by Kayla Seeling with 13.
Stats for McClain were not submitted.
The win by McClain leaves the Lady Tigers at 5-5 in the FAC.

BOYS SOCCER
Mustangs defeat rival Fairfield
The Fairfield Lions were shut out by the visiting Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs in their SHAC match at FHS on Friday, Oct. 6.
The Mustangs had goals from Austin Bell and Josiah Burns with two goals each.
The lone assist for LCHS was collected by Mason Fisher.
Isaac Eyre finished with four saves for the Mustangs.
Carson Jenkins totaled six saves for FHS.

GIRLS SOCCER
LCHS rallies past Fairfield
In a game that was close for at least a half of action, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs rallied past the Fairfield Lady Lions to keep first place in the SHAC Friday night (Oct. 6) at FHS.
LCHS won by a 5-1 score with three goals by Jade Massey for the hat trick, while Allie Waits and Autumn Wilkin each scored a goal.
The lone goal for FHS was by Faith Donley.
Assists for LCHS were by Brya McClain, Aubrey Slack and Waits.
At goal for LCHS was Caitlyn Collins with four saves, while Fairfield keeper Claire Newkirk had 14 saves.

Whiteoak defeats Ripley
The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats defeated SHAC opponent Ripley on the road Friday night in five sets for the victory.
WHS lost set one (25-20), but followed with wins in set two and three by scores of 26-24 and 25-9. In set four, WHS lost 25-20, but won the fifth and final set at 15-9.

BOYS SOCCER
Indians lose to North Adams
The Hillsboro Indians lost a non-conference boys soccer game on the road Saturday afternoon (Oct. 7) by a 3-2 score at North Adams.
Against the Green Devils, the Indians had two goals from Ryan Howland, with one of his goals assisted by Austin Bledsoe.

HHS girls soccer falls to North Adams
The Hillsboro Lady Indians went to Adams County Saturday afternoon and lost a non-conference game to the North Adams Lady Green Devils by a 3-2 score.
Goals for Hillsboro were scored by Rylie Scott (assisted by Hannah Holland) and Peighton Bledsoe (assisted by Brooklyn Lucarello).
