Herb Day, Ralph May inducted into Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame

Local radio broadcaster and entertainer Herb Day, along with Greenfield native and recording artist Ralph May were recently inducted into the Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame.
The induction took place Aug. 12 at the Keepin’ It Country Farm near Waynesville.
The event was hosted by Richard and Donna Lynch. The executive director of the Ohio Hall of Fame Jackie Thomas did the honors.
Each were honored for their many years of creating, promoting and perpetuating country music and specifically traditional country music through writing, performing and broadcast promotion.
Throughout his career, May spent over 50 years performing with artists like Johnny Paycheck, Tammy Wynette and Johnny Mathis, as well as scoring several top 100 hits on his own. May has since retired from the music industry.
Day has spent nearly 50 years in radio, plus appearing on stage along with artists such as Freddie Hart, George Jones, Johnny Paycheck, Marty Robbins and others. He currently owns and operations Fun-Oldies Rock and Roll Herb Day Radio (www.herbdayradio.com) and Red, White & Blue Country (www.herbdaycountry.com) radio stations, and continues to perform and write music.
The Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame’s mission statement is honoring Ohio natives who have excelled in maintaining the genre of traditional country music. “We do this to preserve the past in order to secure the future of traditional country music."
