Former Democrat President Barack Hussein Obama was often called the "Deporter-in-Chief," as the Obama administration removed more than 3 million illegal aliens over eight years, the highest number in U.S. history. I cannot recall much of anything even discussed about Obama's millions and millions of deportations of illegal aliens. No protests. No riots against law enforcement.

While the loads of snow and frigid temps meant that not everyone that was scheduled to have presentations at the Jan. 26 Greenfield school board meeting got to be there, that didn’t mean that gifts for school board members were unable to be present.

The Lynchburg Lions Club held its regular dinner meeting Jan. 19 at the Lions Club building in Lynchburg. The club heard presentations from District Gov. Rachelle Powers, First District Gov. Ben Dunn and Second Vice District Gov. Tony Winner. 

Main Street Downtown Greenfield, located in Greenfield, celebrated the installation of the Path to Freedom Walking Tour with a ribbon cutting from the Highland County Chamber of Commerce, along with family, friends, and members of the community on Jan. 15.

The SO Consortium (also known as Area 1 Workforce Development Board) in Scioto County has been declared “unauditable” for the period July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2025, due to inadequate financial records to complete an audit.

The Lynchburg Lions Club and Lions Clubs International sponsored their annual Peace Poster contest again this fall.  

Lynchburg-Clay Local School District honored its board members on Thursday, Jan. 15 for School Board Appreciation Month. 

Superintendent Quincey Gray provided an update regarding a letter of interest submitted by the Greenfield school district in the fall to the Scioto Valley Conference. She said the organization has not yet made a final decision. 

Members of the Mowrystown Lions Club recently delivered 10-plus boxes of food to the Bright Local Food Bank located in Sugar Tree Ridge.  

The Hillsboro Elks finished a $10,500 2025 grant year with a $3,500 donation to Alternatives to Violence Center.

Main Street Downtown Greenfield has scheduled its Path to Freedom walking tour ribbon cutting for 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at Greenfield City Hall.
