Hillsboro woman sentenced in drug trafficking case
A Hillsboro woman originally charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity was sentenced Wednesday to community control after pleading guilty to three third-degree felonies.
As previously reported, Katie Fettro, 21, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in May and charged with 19 counts, including:
• One count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a first-degree felony;
• Nine counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, one first-degree felony, four third-degree felonies and four fifth-degree felonies; and
• Nine counts of aggravated possession of drugs, one first-degree felony, four third-degree felonies and four fifth-degree felonies.
All 19 of Fettro’s charges in the indictment listed her as a co-defendant to James Steven Fettro, who was sentenced in August to at least six years in prison for the engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity charge, as well as two drug trafficking counts.
According to court records, Katie Fettro pleaded guilty June 26 to three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, all third-degree felonies, with the remaining 16 charges dismissed.
The drug charges in the indictment stemmed from an approximate six-month period in 2024, during which it was alleged that those charged “did knowingly sell or offer to sell,” and “did knowingly obtain, possess or use,” psilocybin (mushrooms).
During a hearing Wednesday, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Fettro to three years of community control. She was ordered to successfully complete a recommended treatment program and aftercare. She will also be required to pay $1,550 in restitution joint and several with James Steven Fettro and $140 in restitution joint and several with James Steven Fettro and another co-defendant, Christopher Starkey.
