Greenfield woman gets community control in theft case
A Greenfield woman was sentenced to community control and ordered to pay restitution recently after pleading guilty to theft.
As previously reported, Alisha Looney, 41, of Greenfield, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in February on one count of theft, a fifth-degree felony.
The indictment alleged that between September and November 2022, Looney and a codefendant “did knowingly obtain or exert control over” $4,214 in U.S. currency from a business. The case against her codefendant is still pending.
According to a bill of particulars, Looney was “responsible for servicing two vending kiosks” at two different Greenfield businesses, which reported “cash shortages.” She allegedly admitted to “taking funds from the kiosks for personal use,” the bill of particulars says.
Looney pleaded guilty to the theft charge May 4. On June 7, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced her to three years of community control. She was ordered to pay court costs as well as the $4,214 in restitution, jointly and severally with the co-defendant, according to court records.
