LC Lady Mustangs defend home field against rival Fairfield

DODSONVILLE — Behind a second-half hat trick by senior Kalyn Rich, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs are now the lone undefeated team in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference standings after defeating the Fairfield Lady Lions Wednesday night by a 7-1 score.

Lynchburg-Clay led 4-0 after the first half, then followed with three more goals in the second half.

LCHS began their winning ways with a goal from Jade Massey with the assist by Rich early in the contest with 38:22 left in the first half, as the goal was kicked from over 18 yards out for the 1-0 lead.

The lead went to 2-0 when Lainie Lunsford also kicked a goal from over 18 yards out with 24:18 on the scoreboard. The lead went to three goals as Aubrey Slack beat the defense of the Lady Lions with 22:39 left in the opening half.

Not finished with their first-half scoring, it was Karlie Tipton pushing the LCHS lead to a 4-0 advantage with the assist by Massey, leaving 2:38 left in the opening half.

In the second half, all of the LCHS scoring came from Rich as she scored goals with 22:19, 18:33 and 15:20 on the clock, giving herself a hat trick and the Lady Mustangs a 7-0 lead.

Fairfield broke the shutout with a goal by Faith Donley, with the assist going to Rilee Quickle.

LCHS will play the West Union Lady Dragons on Friday, Oct. 7 at LCHS in SHAC action with a 6 p.m. start. LCHS improves to 11-1-1 overall with a 5-0-0 record in the SHAC.

Fairfield will play again Monday, Oct. 10 at home against the McClain Lady Tigers in non-conference action at 5:30 p.m. FHS is now 11-1-0 overall with a 5-1-0 mark in the SHAC.
