Scoring 30 points and her fifth-straight double-double, Monday night’s game belonged to Fairfield’s Chelsey Riddle, as the Lady Lions controlled the pace of the game to their style en route to defeating cross-county rival Whiteoak 59-28.

After gaining their season opening win on Friday night, the Whiteoak Wildcats dropped their first game of the year the following day as they fell to non-league foe Williamsburg 70-51 in their 2009-10 home opener at Whiteoak High School.

Entering the half with the game tied at 27, both the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs and Whiteoak Wildcats kept the game close up until the very end, but timely scoring and the prevention of a Mustangs rally near the end of the game gave the Wildcats their second win of the season as they defeated L-C 61-56 Tuesday night at LCHS.

Joe Michael scored 26 points including 10 of 18 from the foul line Friday night to pace the Whiteoak Wildcats to 68-61 season-opening victory over the North Adams Green Devils. The game was the nightcap of three games between the two Southern Hills League schools, played at Southern State Community College's Patriot Center.
