Scoring runs in three of five innings played, the Whiteoak Wildcats set the pace in the 2013 postseason run, winning via the run-rule over Glenwood New Boston by a 10-0 score Wednesday at WHS.

In advancing to the Division IV SE District semifinals, WHS, the Division II Southern Hills Athletic Conference champions, improved to 19-7 overall as they will now face No. 4 Trimble on Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.

Luke Taggert, Jesse Bradds and Tyler Williams each had three hits, with Taggert going 3-for-4 (one double) with two runs and one RBI. Bradds was also 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, while Williams was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.

"Luke, Jesse and Tyler had big offensive days for us," WHS head coach Chris Veidt said. "Jesse is heating up, and he is the kid with the most experience in the cleanup spot. He is the kid we want there. Jesse knows he's going to see a lot of breaking balls, and he knows how to handle them."

Zach Docter, Gage Carraher, Kyle Marler and Jason Jones each had one hit. Docter added two runs and one RBI, while Carraher collected two runs and one RBI. Marler scored one run and earned an RBI. Jones had one run and two RBIs.

Docter was the winning pitcher, going five innings on the mound. The senior allowed just one hit and walked two, as he struck out 11, improving to 4-3 on the season.

"Zach pitched like an experienced senior," Veidt said. "He was fantastic. Our pitching depth gives us a lot of options come tourney time, and the fact he only threw 67 pitches allows him to be ready again with minimal rest when needed."
