For three quarters, it looked as though the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats were in control of their Southern Hills Athletic Conference game with the Eastern Brown Lady Warriors.
The problem was there were four quarters, and that is when the double-digit lead built in the third by WHS crumbled, and EB forced their way through the Lady 'Cats by a 46-36 score Thursday at WHS.
Eastern held WHS scoreless in the fourth quarter, while they did nothing but play stifling defense and on-point offense as the Lady Warriors outscored WHS from the 1:10 mark of the third until the end of the game, 19-0 to gain their first win of the season.
"We built a 10-point lead in the third, and we lost it," WHS head coach Mike Cooper said. "We didn't handle their press well, and they made a lot of nice shots. Eastern also controlled the board against us.
"In the fourth, we decided we just didn't want to play anymore."
WHS (1-5) entered the the fourth with a 36-30 advantage, as the host Lady 'Cats held the lead at the conclusion of each of the first three quarters by scores of 11-8 after the first and 24-22 at halftime.
