The North Adams High School Athletic Department has announced the creation of the Coach Young Classic, with the inaugural event to be held Saturday, Nov. 30 at North Adams High School.

The Coach Young Classic will feature 12 of the best high school basketball programs in Southeastern Ohio, as a fitting tribute to the late North Adams head coach, Dave Young.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Young Memorial Scholarship Foundation, which honors the lives of the late Coach Young and his brother Mark, who passed away in 2006.

The Classic will feature five varsity boys contests and one varsity girls contest.

Programs such as Chesapeake, Wheelersburg and South Webster will be among those playing (all of which have made the State Final Four since 2007). Programs that Young was a part of, such as West Union, Whiteoak, and North Adams will also be participants.
