McClain falls in sectionals
The 2013 season has come to a close for the McClain Lady Tigers' soccer team, as they were defeated by the Zane Trace Lady Pioneers, 3-0 at ZTHA, Monday evening.

For the Lady Tigers, they gained one win this season, finishing with an overall mark of 1-14-1 overall on the year.

VOLLEYBALL

Lady Lions end season

The Fairfield Lady Lions had their 2013 volleyball season come to a close on Monday evening, as they lost in three consecutive games to the Western Latham Lady Indians.

In the Jackson 1 bracket, FHS lost to the host WL team by scores of 25-12, 25-8 and 25-13 as the FHS squad, a No, 11 seed, ended their season at 1-16 overall.

The lone win by FHS came in a non-conference match with the McClain Lady Tigers earlier in the season.

Western entered the match as a No. 6 seed.

VOLLEYBALL
WHS continues season

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats advanced in their volleyball sectional Monday evening, defeating the No. 8 Glenwood New Boston Lady Tigers in three games at Glenwood High School.

The No. 9 Lady Wildcats will now travel to face the No. 1 seeded Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. at PND high school.

The win by WHS moves them to 8-7 overall this season.

Scores for the match were 25-17, 25-16 and 25-22.

BOYS SOCCER

Lions move to sectional final

The season isn't over just quite yet for the Fairfield Lions boys soccer team. The Lions controlled the tempo, and for that, they moved on to their sectional final, defeating the North Adams Green Devils, 4-0 Monday.

In a game that, at times, was high on emotion, the Lions kept their cool when they needed to as they still have at least one game remaining in their season.

The win puts FHS at 13-3-1 overall on the year and 1-0 in the postseason.
