Kiley Sosby is second in state record book for K's in a game

Whiteoak junior softball pitcher Kiley Sosby has joined the state record book, as she is officially now tied for second place all-time in strikeouts in a single game.
Sosby earned the record on March 31 in a game at Paint Valley High School, as she struck out 20 batters in the 2-0 non-conference win.
Before Sosby's game, the last time 20 strikeouts happened in a game was May 2011.
There have been 23 instances of an even 20 strikeouts in a high school softball game, according to the OHSAA Softball Record Book.

The state-record is 21 strikeouts in a game, happening three times.
In her 20-strikeout game, the junior pitcher retired the first 11 batters of the game before the 12th batter reached on the aforementioned error.
Sosby struck out the side in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth innings. PV's lone hit came in the sixth inning as they sent 22 batters to the plate. Only two of the outs came on groundouts.
In the fourth inning, she struck out four batters of that game.
