Tigers host annual McClain Cross-Country Invitational

GREENFIELD — It was a perfect morning at John Mitchell Park in Greenfield on Saturday, Aug. 26 where seven teams competed in the annual McClain Cross-Country Invitational.

Bloom-Carroll placed first in both the boys and girls events, and Hillsboro’s boys and girls finished a close second with several of their runners having good showing, including Corbin Winkle, who took first with a winning time of 17.12.  

Rason Brunck also crossed the finish line with a respectable time of 18:97, which was good for fourth place.

The Lady Indians' top two finishers were Jailyn Williams, who finished third with a time of 21:23, and Taylor Thoroman had a sixth-place time of 22:10.

Fairfield and McClain were also well-represented on both sides of the event.

Top finishers for McClain boys were Dartanyen Stovall (22:38), Zach Scales (23:46), Nathan Alvarez (26:12), Nicolas Alvarez (26:13), Jesse VanHoose (30:00) and Avery Truman (31:50).

Top McClain girls were Brooke Baldwin (24:41), Katrina Sturgeon (26:21), Sierra Barton (26:31), Lara Barber (29:40), Ashley Mitchell (30:06), Bailey Mitchell (30:45) and Laura Stevenson (37:03)

Fairfield boys finishers included Zach Ahsaruk (20:10), Britton Campbell (21:06), Nolan Campbell (21:29), Mason Lightle (21:49), Jordan Bennington (21:50), Caleb Rice (22:02), Ryan Smith (22:15), Connor Ayers (21:41), Griffin Friend (24:32), Zayden Hixon (30:49), Hayden Barrera (31:16), Gregary Achtermann (32:56) and John Kier (33:12).

Fairfield girls runners included Madelyn Wiseman (26;45), Emelia Roehm (32:55), Eleanore Warner (33:22) and Campbell Anne Friend (34:10).

The McClain middle school was also well-represented with Isaac Mincey running a 13:38 and Zander Lions a 16:44. Lila Banks was the Lady Tigers' middle school top finisher with a 13:49 followed closely by Kaleigh Freeze (15:02, Alaina Best (17:27), Riley Lanning (24:06) and Marley Hale (24:08).

Fairfield MS boys runners included Blake Walters (12:16), Vinny Ballard, Cameron Caudill (14:08), Korbin Hixon (14:32), Tyrus Cumberland (15:45) and Owen Kier (27:02).Girls final results were Bloom Carroll (1st) 35 pts, Hillsboro (2nd) 38 pts, Zane Trace (3rd) 88 pts, Miami Trace (4th) 101 pts, McClain (5th) 111 pts, and Fairfield.

Boys final results Bloom Carroll (1st) 24 pts, Hillsboro (2nd) 39 pts, Fairfield (3rd) 98 pts, Miami Trace (4th) 102 pts, Zane Trace (5th) 119 pts, East Clinton (6th) 152 pts, and McClain (7th) 185 pts.
