Make it a fourth All-American award (in as many tries) for Otterbein University sophomore pole vaulter Peyton Proffitt, who dug deep in churning out a sixth-place finish on Thursday afternoon at the NCAA Division III Championships inside Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

The Fairfield Lady Lions hosted the Westfall Lady Mustangs Thursday (May 9) in a Division III sectional final game at Fairfield High School for the second consecutive year.  

Two four-run innings by the Westfall Mustangs, added with a one-run inning, were too much for the McClain Tigers to overcome on Thursday night as they were defeated by the Mustangs, 9-2 in non-conference action. 

Otterbein University sophomore Peyton Proffitt has been selected as the newest OAC Field Athlete of the Week on the women's track and field scene, following a nice performance at Mount Union.

Losing their halftime lead when the third quarter had closed, the No. 21 seeded Fairfield Lady Lions had a speed bump in the first of two second-half quarters, entering the final eight minutes of their Division III SE District Sectional Semifinal game against the No. 28 seeded Westfall Lady Mustangs trailing by seven points, instead of holding a three-point lead. 

Going on the road Saturday night (Feb. 3), the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs played a makeup game against a non-conference foe, the Westfall Mustangs, and though LC battled tough, they were outscored by nine points in the second half, resulting in a 55-51 loss. 

The McClain boys varsity soccer team closed out their regular season with a 4-1 senior-night victory over visiting Westfall Wednesday night.

The McClain varsity girls soccer team defeated Westfall 11-1 Wednesday on senior night in Greenfield, and Luca Matesic and Kaitlyn Jett showed their senior leadership, scoring eight of their team’s 11 goals in the contest.

The Fairfield Lions boys soccer team lost a non-conference game on Thursday (Aug. 31) by a 6-1 score.

The list of awards continue piling up for standout Otterbein University freshman Peyton Proffitt, who was named Great Lakes Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday afternoon.

The Fairfield Lady Lions had their string of 20 consecutive sectional championships (combined Div. III and IV) end Thursday afternoon at Fairfield High School with a 9-4 loss to the Westfall Lady Mustangs (10-9, 6-4 SVC) in a Div. III Southeast District Sectional Championship game.

On Monday, May 8, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs defeated the host Westfall Mustangs, 7-3 in a non-conference game.

Fairfield wasted little time in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference game Wednesday (April 26), as a three-run first inning turned into an 11-1 win over the visiting Peebles Indians.
