Lady Mustangs defeat rival Fairfield

The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs soccer team recently split their past two games as they were victorious over county rival Fairfield 4-0 and were defeated by the Ripley Lady Blue Jays 3-2.
Against the Lady Lions, L-C scored two goals in each half for the four-goal win at Lynchburg-Clay High School.
In the opening 40 minutes senior Alex Baker scored a goal off a pass from junior Lindsey Rosselott at the 29:04 mark of the half.
Almost 16 minutes later the Lady Mustangs took control of the first half with a goal from freshman Hannah West, which came from a cross kick by sophomore Brooke Hertlein with 13:38 remaining in the first half.
Things continued to improve for the Lady Mustangs in the final 40 minutes with freshman forward Taylor Scott converting a goal with the assist from Baker at the 29:26 mark of the second half.
The final goal by the Lady Mustangs came from Rosselott as she beat a defender for the goal with 26:28 left in the game.
Rosselott finished with one goal and one assist in the game against the Lady Lions. L-C coach Dennis West said Scott was the offensive leader for L-C.
"This was our first game since Aug. 28 and we didn't want to come out flat," West said. "Scoring the first goal relaxed the team and our girls played very strong against a good Fairfield team."
The win improves L-C to 2-2-0 overall, 0-1 in the Southern Hils League.
