Whiteoak softball earns SHAC win vs. Ripley; falls to Manchester

Whiteoak added a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win to their overall total on Saturday (April 20) against Ripley, but lost a conference game on Friday (April 19) to Manchester. 

Saturday’s SHAC win vs. Ripley at Whiteoak High School saw the Lady ’Cats improve to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in conference standings.

Ripley scored first with three runs in the top of the first, and WHS answered with a run in the bottom of the second. After RHS scored a run in the top of the third, the Lady ’Cats responded with three runs in the bottom of the third and a four-run fourth inning for a 10-4 lead. 

Each team added a run in the fifth, then in the sixth inning Ripley scored two runs and Whiteoak had one run cross home plate for the final 12-7 score. 

Ripley finished with five hits and four errors, while WHS totaled 15 hits and two errors.

Four Whiteoak players each had three hits, starting with Madison Davidson finishing 3-for-4 with a double, one run and two RBI.

Kylee Hamm was 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBI, collecting two doubles along the way in the SHAC win. 

Molly McMullen finished 3-for-4 with one run, and one RBI. 

Jaylie Parr finished the game 3-for-3 with three runs, one double and one HBP. 

Addy Hauke scored one run and drew one walk. Charli Hauke went 1-for-4 with one RBI, while teammate Bri Hill finished 1-for-4 with two runs. Lily Leston went 1-for-4 while scoring a run and hitting a double, plus she had two RBI. Kylee Ruark was 1-for-2. 

In the circle, Leston pitched 5.2 innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Hill pitched 1.1 innings, allowing no runs on no hits and no walks, with one strikeout.

The previous day, on Friday (April 19), WHS lost to Manchester, 10-0 in six innings at Manchester. 

WHS totaled three hits in the loss and had two errors. Manchester finished with 15 hits and one error. 

Three players each had a hit for the Lady ’Cats, as Charli Hauke went 1-for-2, Lily Leston was 1-for-3 and Jaylie Parr finished 1-for-3 with a double. 

Elly McMullen had the lone Whiteoak walk. 

Hill struck out three batters in six innings in the loss.
