Libby Webster nets 30 points in Lady Wildcats’ 42-point win over Glenwood New Boston; WHS falls to Fayetteville

Saturday (Feb. 7) the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats earned a big non-conference win by defeating the visiting Glenwood (New Boston) Lady Tigers 69-27 for a 42-point victory at Whiteoak High School.
Whiteoak was strong early in the game with a 12-5 first quarter, then broke away with a 24-4 second frame for a halftime lead of 38-9.
From there, the third frame saw Whiteoak score 18 points and Glenwood score 14 points, and in the fourth quarter WHS outscored their opponent 15-4.
Libby Webster led Whiteoak with a double-double by scoring a career-high 30 points and also grabbing 10 rebounds. Webster made nine two-point baskets, three 3-pointers and was 3-of-8 from the free-throw line. She also added 10 rebounds (four offensive), two assists, three steals and three blocks.
Taelyn Shriver finished with 12 points with two 3-pointers, two two-pointers and was 2-of-3 in her free throw attempts. She also had four rebounds and two assists.
Aveah Captain totaled nine points with a 3-pointer, two two-point buckets and she went 2-of-6 from the free-throw line, along with adding two rebounds, two assists, two blocks and seven steals.
Ella Howard also scored nine points with two two-point baskets, a 3-pointer and she was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Howard also collected six rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Jillian Lucas finished with seven points by making a 3-pointer, a two-point basket and she was 2-of-2 in her free-throw shots. She also had five rebounds and two assists.
Miley Walker finished with two points, three rebounds and two steals. Teammates Savannah Ferguson and Jada Combs each grabbed one rebound.
Whiteoak’s team totals included eight 3-pointers (Lucas 1, Shriver 2, Captain 1, Howard 1, Webster 3), 17 two-point baskets, and they went 11-of-24 from the free-throw line. WHS also had 32 rebounds (nine offensive), 13 assists, 16 steals and five blocks and seven turnovers.

On Monday, Feb. 9, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats played against the Fayetteville Lady Rockets and fell by a 44-21 score at WHS.
The Lady ’Cats trailed 8-4 when the first quarter ended, and after Fayetteville led the second at 13-0, the Lady Rockets held a 21-4 halftime advantage. In the second half, WHS scored seven points in the third and 10 points in the fourth quarter. Fayetteville added 14 points in the third quarter and nine points to their final total in the fourth frame.
Whiteoak was led in the scoring column by Libby Webster with 13 points, and next was Aveah Captain with six points. Also scoring points for the Lady ’Cats was Jillian Lucas with two points.
Fayetteville was led by Christina Murphy with 12 points and Scarlett Crawford with 11 points.
After the two games, WHS is now 8-11 overall and 5-6 in the SHAC. Fayetteville improves to 13-0, ending their SHAC season undefeated and as the Div. II SHAC champions. Fayetteville has an overall record of 17-2 this season.
Next for WHS is a home non-conference game against the McClain Lady Tigers Thursday, Feb. 12 at WHS. Their final SHAC game is scheduled to be played Saturday, Feb. 14 vs. West Union at WHS.
