Lady ‘Cats improve to 2-1; defeat Ripley

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats won their second consecutive game the past Wednesday (Nov. 30) and in the process won their second straight Southern Hills Athletic Conference game by defeating the visiting Ripley Lady Blue Jays, 43-37.

Whiteoak won the first quarter with a 13-9 lead after the frame, and then after outscoring RHS 11-8 in the second quarter, it was the Lady ’Cats leading the games at halftime, 24-17.

RHS won the third quarter at 12-11, and each team scored eight points in the fourth quarter.

Whiteoak had two players lead the way with 13 points each, those players being Lydia Carr and Jaylie Parr.

Carr finished with the 13 points, making two two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and she was 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. She also added 13 rebounds for a double-double, plus two assists and four steals.

Parr had her 13 points come from five two-point buckets and one 3-pointer. Parr also collected seven rebounds, two assists and three steals.

WHS also had eight points and seven rebounds from Addison Roberts, plus she added four assists and two steals to her final totals.

Kylee Hamm ended the game with four points and four rebounds, while teammate Molly McMullen scored three points and grabbed four boards. Torie Potts finished with two points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist.

As a team, the Lady ’Cats totaled five 3-pointers (Hamm, Carr, Roberts, Parr) and were 8-of-13 from the free-throw line.

Other final team totals for WHS included: 42 rebounds (18 offensive rebounds), 11 assists, 13 steals and 20 turnovers.

The win moves WHS to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the SHAC.
