Mustangs score 12 runs in win over West Union
Traveling for a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game on Saturday (April 20), the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs gained a win in the baseball standings by defeating the host West Union Dragons, 12-1 in five innings.
LC’s dominating performance saw them score 10 of their 12 runs in the top of the third, followed by two runs in the top of the fifth inning. WUHS scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Mustangs collected 11 hits in the win and committed zero errors. West Union was held to one hit and committed three errors.
Four Mustangs had two hits each, with Isaac Eyre going 2-for-3 with one run, a double and two RBI, plus he was hit by a pitch.
Elam Faust finished the game at 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Cole Wells was 2-for-2 with two RBI, a double and one walk. Also with two hits was Braedon West at 2-for-3 with two runs, a double and one walk.
Austin Bell was 1-for-2 with a run and two walks, and teammate Cody Bell was 1-for-1 with two runs. Christian Flowers finished the game at 1-for-2 with a run and two walks.
Max Baker scored one run and walked twice in the win for LCHS, while Josiah Burns collected a run and two RBI. Ryan Creditt scored a run, and Asher Faust also scored a run,
WHS also totaled 10 steals in the win.
Eyre pitched 1.2 innings, allowing no runs on no hits and one walk with one strikeout. Flowers pitched 3.1 innings, allowing one earned run on one hit and one walk with six strikeouts.
LCHS is now 7-6 overall and 5-1 in the SHAC.
