Lady Mustang volleyball sweeps Manchester

Improving to their seventh win of the 2025 season, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs defeated host the Manchester Lady Greyhounds in three consecutive sets for an important Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on Tuesday (Sept. 16). 

Lynchburg-Clay won the first set at 25-15, then followed with wins of 25-9 in set two and 25-19 in the third set. 

The win move LCHS to 5-1 in the Division I standings of the SHAC for second place, and 7-4 overall as LCHS has won their past three SHAC matches, and three of their past four overall matches. 

Against Manchester, the Lady Mustangs collected a total of 28 kills, 28 assists, eight aces, three blocks and 81 digs. 

Having the team-high in kills against Manchester was junior Halle Greene with eight, while she also finished with 13 digs. 

Addy Carraher, a junior, led LCHS with 12 assists, plus she added six kills, one ace, nine digs and one block. 

Senior Joslyn Rockey was the leader in aces with three, and tied in the lead for digs with 21. She also added two kills, and four assists. 

Also tied for the digs lead was junior Melany Stephenson with 21, plus she collected one kill, nine assists, and one ace. 

LCHS senior Matalyn Magee totaled two kills, one ace, one dig, and a block. Kylie O’Connor ended the match with eight kills, two assists, four digs and a block. 

Avery Shope, a senior, finished with one assist, two aces, and six digs in the win. Junior Jules Vesey totaled one kill and six digs. 

Next for Lynchburg-Clay is a home SHAC match on Thursday, Sept. 18 against Ripley with a varsity start of around 6:15 p.m.
