Indians have 1-run loss against Blanchester; rebound with victory over Chillicothe 

Tuesday and Wednesday for the Hillsboro Indians saw a vast change of emotions as they were defeated by a run against the Blanchester Wildcats on Tuesday, but came back stronger on Wednesday with a 10-run victory over the visiting Chillicothe Cavaliers. 

On Tuesday at Blanchester, the Indians allowed Blanchester to score all eight of their runs in the first four innings, and HHS also scored four runs in that same span for a 8-4 score. 

The first inning saw each team score one run, and the Indians took a 4-2 lead after the second inning was complete with a three-run second, while BHS added a run to their total. 

The bottom of the third was huge for the host Wildcats as they tacked on five runs in the inning, and they added their final run in the bottom of the fourth. 

Neither team scored a run in the fifth inning, and HHS made a comeback effort with two runs in the top of the sixth, then they scored one run in the top of the seventh, but were one run short from tying the score as the tying run was left at second base. 

Hillsboro finished the contest with 10 hits and committed three errors. Blanchester totaled four hits and committed four errors. 

Two Hillsboro players had three hits each with Nate Lane going 3-for-4 with three RBI, and Brody Kelch went 3-for-3 with one run and one walk. 

Walker Pence was 2-for-3 collecting a double and three runs. Carter Stingley was 1-for-2 with one RBI, and Zack Brown was 1-for-4 with one run, as his hit was a home run. 

Jack Cornele, Mason Dumpert and Pence were all hit by a pitch. Kelch (two), Brayden Oberrecht, Dumpert and Pence had steals. 

Oberrecht pitched three innings with a strikeout, and Stingley went three innings on the mound with one earned run off one hit and a walk.

For the second time this week, the Hillsboro Indians earned a Frontier Athletic Conference win over the Chillicothe Cavaliers, this time at HHS, as the Indians defeated the Cavaliers in six innings by a 16-6 score, Wednesday. 

Hillsboro totaled 13 hits in the victory as they also had three errors. CHS finished with seven hits and four errors. 

The Indians for the second time in consecutive days had multiple players with three-hit games as Wednesday included Jack Cornele finishing 3-for-4 with three runs with four RBI and two walks. Cornele also collected four steals. 

Luke Holland was 3-for-4 with two runs, one RBI, a walk and one steal. Also with a three-hit game was Zack Brown as he was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, two walks, a double and one steal. 

Brody Kelch was 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI and two walks. Walker Pence was 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI and four walks. Nate Lane was 1-for-5 with a run and two RBI. HHS also had Von Steward finish with one run, one walk and a HBP. Brady Juillerat scored a run, had one RBI and two walks. Carter Stingley had one run, one walk and a steal. 

Luke Holland was the winning pitcher, tossing six innings where he allowed four earned runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts. He threw 67 pitches, 52 for strikes, as he faced 27 batters. 

The game saw the Indians score six runs in the bottom of the second and two runs in the bottom of the third. Hillsboro scored six more runs in the sixth inning for their 16 total runs for the run-rule win. 

CHS had five runs in the fourth and one run in the top of the sixth. 

Hillsboro is now 2-2 in the FAC and 5-6 overall. Chillicothe stands at 1-3 in the FAC and 5-5 overall.
