Hillsboro's Sara Pelfrey earns state disc golf title

Sara Pelfrey of Hillsboro won a state disc golf championship this past weekend, winning her division in the 2024 Ohio Amateur Championships held June 22-23 in Wellington.

Pelfrey competed in the FA3 (Women’s Amateur) division.

After the first round, Pelfrey had a two-stroke lead. Then, after battling her competition back and forth for 27 holes of the final round, she won by one, earning her first A-tier win and state title.

Pelfrey has only been playing the sport for about two years and already has had success, participating in 35 tournaments with 15 wins.

She works locally as a manager at Classics Diner. She and husband, Clint, have plans to give Hillsboro another disc golf course by next year.

Up next, Pelfrey will play in the "Nati Big 3" tournament in Cincinnati July 19-21. She will also participate in the 2024 Professional Disc Association Amateur Disc Golf World Championships, which will be held on Aug. 6-10 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
