Hillsboro soccer, volleyball sweep Jackson in 3 events

On Tuesday night at Hillsboro High School, the Hillsboro soccer teams and the volleyball team earned Frontier Athletic Conference wins over the visiting Jackson Ironmen and Ironladies.

VOLLEYBALL

In volleyball inside the Hillsboro Gymnasium, the Lady Indians defeated the Ironladies in three sets by scores of 25-08, 25-16 and 25-15 to remain undefeated this season, with an 8-0 overall record and a 3-0 FAC record.

The loss sends Jackson to an overall record of 1-8.

BOYS SOCCER

The Hillsboro Indians boys soccer team defeated the Jackson Ironmen by a 3-1 score on Tuesday at Hillsboro High School.

HHS (1-1, 4-1) had two goals from Ryan Howland, and he also collected an assist. Wesley Bailey scored a goal for the Indians, as he added two assists.

This season, Bailey has seven goals in five games, while Howland now has four goals in ’24 after five games played.

For the match, the Indians totaled 18 shots. At keeper for Hillsboro was Ryan Fender finishing with eight saves, as this season he’s collected 31 saves in five games at keeper.

Next for the Indians is a FAC contest on Thursday, Sept. 12 on the road against the Miami Trace Panthers at 5 p.m.

GIRLS SOCCER

On Tuesday, the Hillsboro Lady Indians defended their home field as they gained a Frontier Athletic Conference victory over the Jackson Ironladies by a 4-1 score at Hillsboro High School.

Hillsboro’s Kobie Miles finished with a hat trick, as her three-goal game included two unassisted goals, plus a goal assisted by Ella Jordan.

Also scoring a big-time goal for Hillsboro was Arianna Evans off a corner kick for the assist by Peighton Bledsoe.

Hillsboro’s win improves their overall record to 4-2, while their FAC record moves to 2-1. Jackson is now 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the FAC.

HHS will play next Thursday, Sept. 12 on the road at Miami Trace with a scheduled 6:45 p.m. start in Fayette County.
