Hillsboro scores 14 runs in win at Waynesville; walks off against Madison-Plains

Fifteen hits and 14 runs later, the Hillsboro Lady Indians defeated the Waynesville Lady Spartans 14-4 in six innings at WHS. 

Hillsboro in the non-conference game led 4-1 after the first inning, then they scored two runs in the top of the third and five more runs in the fourth for a 11-1 lead. 

HHS added two more runs in the top of the fifth, but Waynesville answered with three runs in the inning. Hillsboro scored the final run of the game in the sixth inning. 

Hillsboro ended the game with 15 hits and two errors, while Waynesville totaled five hits and two errors. 

Peyton Spurlock was 4-for-4 with three runs, a triple and three RBI. 

Paisley Zink finished 3-for-4 with a run, three RBI, a double and a home run.

Chloe Roberts was 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, a walk, a double and a sacrifice fly. Addley Miller went 2-for-4 with three runs, one RBI and a walk. Leah Vance finished 2-for-4 with two runs and a triple. 

Raeden Workman was 1-for-2 with a run, two RBI, a walk, and a steal. Peyton Hipsher finished the game at 1-for-1 with an RBI. Rilynn Swisshelm totaled two runs and two walks.  

Swisshelm was the winning pitcher as she pitched six innings in the circle, allowing one earned run on five hits and four walks with nine strikeouts.

The Hillsboro Lady Indians gained a non-conference win Friday night as Paisley Zink hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh, pushing HHS ahead for good for an 8-7 win at Hillsboro High School. 

Zink was the first batter of the bottom of the seventh inning, and after a strike and ball for a 1-1 count, she ended the game with the home run hit to centerfield in the May 8 game. 

HHS totaled nine hits and had eight errors. MPHS finished with five hits and three errors. 

The score was tied at 2-2 after two innings with MPHS scoring a run in each of the first two innings played, while HHS had a two-run bottom of the second inning. 

Hillsboro took a 3-2 lead with a run scored in the bottom of the third, but the score was tied at three with MPHS adding a run to the visitors side of the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning. 

The Lady Indians answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth, then another run in the sixth inning. Madison-Plains tied the score in the top of the seventh as four runs crossed home plate, including a home run by Kenzie Vallery of MPHS. 

Then came the home run hit by Zink to end the game. 

Of the nine hits by the Lady Indians, six of them came from three players with two hits each. Chloe Roberts finished 2-for-4 with one run, one RBI, a home run and a steal. 

Addley Miller ended the game at 2-for-4 with a run, a double and a steal. 

Peyton Spurlock went 2-for-4 with two runs. 

Harper Conrad was 1-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, a HBP and a steal. Zink was 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, a HBP and a steal. 

Blair Gard went 1-for-3. Rilynn Swisshelm collected an RBI. Raeden Workman drew a walk. Leah Vance finished the game with one RBI. 

Spurlock was the winning pitcher with seven innings, allowing two earned runs with no walks and seven strikeouts. 

The win improves the Lady Indians to 9-15 overall.
