Hillsboro falls to host Waverly

The Hillsboro Lady Indians continued their busy week of softball with another road game as they fell to the Waverly Lady Tigers by an 11-1 score in five innings. 

HHS trailed 5-0 after the first inning, then WHS scored three runs in the second, and both teams scored one run in the third for a 9-1 score. 

From there, Waverly added one run in both the fourth and fifth innings for the 10-run win. 

HHS finished the game with five hits and had nine errors. Waverly totaled eight hits and had no errors. 

Rilynn Swisshelm was 3-for-3, as the leadoff batter finished with one double, and she also scored the lone run for the Lady Indians. Batting her in was Addley Miller, who was 2-for-3 with a double and the one RBI. 

Chloe Roberts drew one walk for the only walk forced by the Lady Indians in the loss. 

Peyton Spurlock pitched four innings with four earned runs and four strikeouts. She threw 109 pitches in the tough-luck loss. 

HHS is now 0-6 on the season. 

Next for HHS is a Frontier Athletic Conference game Monday, March 30 at home against the Miami Trace Lady Panthers (1-2) at 5 p.m.
