McClain falls to Peebles and Logan Elm

On Saturday, Jan. 27, the McClain Lady Tigers lost to non-conference foe, the Peebles Lady Indians, by a 51-40 score at PHS. 

The loss saw McClain trailed 10-6 at the conclusion of the first frame, and after being outscored 21-18 in the second quarter, it was McClain trailing the host Peebles team, 31-24. 

The second half saw McClain score 14 points in the third and two points in the fourth quarter. Peebles scored eight points in the third and 12 points in the fourth frame, as PHS outscored the Lady Tigers 20-16 in the final two quarters combined. 

Paisley Pryor led MHS with 15 points, as she sank two 3-pointers, three two-point baskets and she went 3-of-6 from the free-throw line. 

Anna Eikenberry totaled eight points with four two-point baskets, and Luca Matesic finished with five points, making one 3-pointer and knocking down a two-point bucket. 

Other final scoring for the Lady Tigers included Brenna Wright with four points, Lily Barnes with three points, Kaitlyn Jett with three points and Haylee Havens scored two points. 

The Lady Tigers totaled 11 two-point baskets, five 3-pointers and they went 3-of-6 from the free-throw line. 

Peebles was led by Payton Johnson with 29 points and Caydence Carroll with 14 points. The Lady Indians finished 11-of-15 from the free-throw line. 

Following the loss, McClain moved to 10-9 overall and Peebles improved to 16-2. 

On Wednesday (Jan. 31), the Lady Tigers lost on the road to the Logan Elm Lady Braves, 49-41 at LEHS. 

Logan Elm led by one point when the first quarter came to a close by a 9-8 score. And after LEHS outscored McClain 15-7 in the second frame, it was the host Lady Braves winning 24-15 at halftime. 

Logan Elm won the third frame at 12-6, and in the final quarter McClain scored 20 points while Logan Elm added 13 points to their final scoring totals. 

Paisley Pryor led MHS with 14 points, finishing with five two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and one made free throw. 

Lily Barnes ended the game with nine total points, making a 3-pointer and three two-point baskets. 

The rest of the McClain scoring included Leah Lovett (four), Haylee Havens (three), Kaitlyn Jett (three), Brenna Wright (three), Anna Eikenberry (three) and Lindsey Hutchinson (two). 

Three-pointers in the game were made by Pryor, Jett and Barnes. 

For the game, MHS made 12 two-point baskets, three 3-pointers and they finished 8-of-17 with their free-throw attempts. 

Logan Elm was led by Kiannah Ingram with 25 points and Kimberly Petty with 13 points. 

The loss moved McClain to 10-10 overall, while Logan Elm moved to 8-11 overall.
