Blue Lions hand Tigers FAC loss

In Washington Court House on Tuesday night, Dec. 16, the McClain Tigers lost their Frontier Athletic Conference game against the host Washington Blue Lions, 59-35. 

McClain trailed 14-5 after the first quarter, and following a much better quarter where WCH scored another 14 points, but the Tigers scored 13 points, it was Washington leading 28-18 at halftime. 

The Tigers scored 14 points in the third and three points in the fourth quarter, while Washington scored 17 points in the third frame, then added 14 points in the fourth quarter. 

Washington was led by Jeston Everhart with 18 points, followed by Noah Haithcock with 14 points. The Blue Lions also had the following scoring: Aden Osborne (8), Javin Baker (5), Bryson Heath (4), Sam Pfeifer (8) and Jason Hughes (2). 

The Blue Lions finished the game with 15 two-point baskets, six 3-pointers, and they were 11-of-12 from the free-throw line. 

McClain was led by Hudson Lovett with 10 points (three two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, one free throw), followed by eight points scored by Jordan Bell (one two-point basket, one 3-pointer, one free throw). 

Brady Binegar followed with seven points as he made a 3-pointer, one two-point basket and two free throws. Matthew Cummins totaled six points with three baskets, and scoring two points each were Lucas Banks and Connor Chandler.

The Tigers finished with nine two-point baskets, three 3-pointers, and they were 8-of-14 from the free-throw line. 

The win improves the Blue Lions to 1-1 in the FAC and 3-3 overall. McClain is now 0-2 in the FAC and 2-3 overall. 

Next for McClain is another FAC game as they’ll host the Jackson Ironmen on Friday, Dec. 19 at McClain Gym. 

Washington is scheduled to next face the Hillsboro Indians on Friday, Dec. 19 at HHS.
