Lions baseball falls to Washington and Huntington on consecutive nights

The Fairfield Lions lost two consecutive baseball games to begin the week, as they lost on the road to the Washington Blue Lions and at home against the Huntington Huntsmen.
FHS in the non-conference games started their week with a 10-1 loss in Fayette County against the Washington Blue Lions at Washington High School.
The Blue Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the first, followed by a run in the bottom of the second, then three runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth and two final runs in the bottom of the sixth. Washington finished with eight hits and one error.
As for the Fairfield Lions, they scored their lone run in the top of the fourth inning, as they totaled two hits and three errors.
Caleb Rice was 1-for-3 with three steals. Ben Miller went 1-for-2, plus he had a steal and was hit by a pitch.
Cameron Miller scored a run, and Zane Collins collected an RBI.
Fairfield’s Ben Miller pitched 3.2 innings where he finished with six strikeouts. Anderson Humphreys pitched 2.1 innings in relief for Fairfield, as he had one strikeout.

On Tuesday (May 12), the Fairfield Lions hosted the Huntington Huntsmen, falling by a 13-0 score in a non-conference contest at Fairfield High School.
The Huntsmen began their scoring with five runs in the top of the first, followed with two runs in the top of the second, four runs in the fourth and two runs in the top of the fifth inning. For the game, HHS totaled 10 hits and they had one error.
Fairfield collected one hit and had two errors.
Fairfield’s lone hit was off the bat of Spencer Hurless, as he went 1-for-1 with a steal. Weston Baldwin drew a walk. Also drawing a walk was Parker Pierce. Cameron Miller reached the bases on an error, where he had a steal.
Zane Collins pitched four innings where he collected three strikeouts. Hurless pitched one inning for the Lions.
The Lions now have an overall record of 8-16 this season.
