Henninger nets hat trick in Fairfield Lady Lions win; Lions boys soccer suffers loss

Fairfield sophomore Vivian Henninger began the 2024 season with a strong effort, collecting a hat trick as she and her Lady Lion teammates defeated the host Clinton-Massie Falcons, 5-1 Friday night at CMHS.

The non-conference win by Fairfield saw Henninger score three goals to lead the way for Fairfield. Teammate junior Ava Hooper also scored a goal for FHS.

FHS also had a goal go their way via an own goal by CMHS.

Assists for FHS were credited to junior Rilee Quickle and sophomore Emerson Zink.

At goal for the Lady Lions was senior Claire Newkirk finishing with seven saves.

The win by Fairfield moves them to 1-0 overall, and they are scheduled to play again on Monday, Aug. 19 on the road in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action against Peebles at PHS with a 6:45 p.m. start.

Also on Friday, the Fairfield Lions boys soccer team played at Clinton-Massie, where they lost by a 3-0 score to open the ’24 season.

At goal for Fairfield was senior Zane Matthews, finishing with seven saves.

The Fairfield boys soccer team will play again Monday, Aug. 19 on the road in SHAC action against Peebles at 4:30 p.m.
