Fouch hits HR, K’s 8 in Fairfield win over East Clinton

Fairfield’s Gabe Fouch hit a home run and gained the pitching win on Monday, as the Fairfield Lions defeated the host East Clinton Astros, 17-1 in non-conference action.
Fairfield opened the game with three runs in the top of the first inning, followed by consecutive four-run innings for a 11-0 lead. From there, the Lions scored two runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth for their 17-run total.
ECHS scored their lone run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
For the game, the Lions totaled 12 hits and committed no errors. The Astros had one hit and committed five errors.
Fouch finished 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs, four RBI and three walks. Fouch was also the winning pitcher, as he threw three innings, allowing no runs on no hits and no walks. He finished with eight strikeouts, finishing with 39 pitches, 27 for strikes, as he faced nine batters.
Landry Hattan finished 3-for-3 with two runs, a double and one RBI. Dow Moon was 2-for-2 with three runs and a walk.
Cade Miller was 2-for-3 with three runs, a double, five RBI and one walk. Ethan Humphreys finished 1-for-3 with three runs, one RBI and a walk.
Also for Fairfield, Noah Allering was 1-for-4 with an RBI, and on the mound he pitched two innings, where he allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk, while also finishing with six strikeouts as he faced eight batters. Allering threw 40 pitches, 27 for strikes.
Wyatt Collins finished 1-for-4 with one run, a double and two RBI. Zane Matthews scored one run, and Corbin Willey scored a run.
The win moves Fairfield to 3-1 overall.
