WILMINGTON, Ohio—There are more reasons than usual for you to attend the CMH Foundation Auxiliary’s Annual Charity Ball on Saturday, May 1, at Roberts Centre.
In addition to again offering the premier public social event of the season in Clinton County, the volunteer women of the CMH Foundation Auxiliary are teaming with the Wilmington and Clinton County Bicentennial Committee to add a distinctive historical touch to this year’s always special event.
In fact, this year’s dinner, dance, silent and live auction will get started with an historical dancing exhibition and cocktails at 5:30 p.m. Organizers of the formal public event (black tie optional) are otherwise encouraging those attending to dress in period attire from the bicentennial period of 1810 to 2010.
Among the visual historical highlights will be an antique vehicle display, old photos and renderings of Clinton Memorial Hospital, Hale Hospital and Clinton County, greeters dressed in 1800s attire, a display honoring veterans, historical dress displays from the Clinton County History Center, and mannequins dressed in period attire.
Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. followed by the live auction and dancing to the live band, Laika, until midnight. Among the auction items are a singing telegram, time share vacations and original art work.
Possibly the most important reason for attending is that, once again, proceeds from the event will go to the CMH Foundation Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) that assists financially-stressed patients of the Foster J. Boyd, MD, Regional Cancer Center as well as some cancer patients treated at Clinton Memorial Hospital.
In a year which saw Clinton County unemployment reach unprecedented heights, this fund is more important than ever to hundreds of individuals in the many communities served by CMH Regional Health System.
In 2009, more than $19,000 was distributed from the CAP to assist patients with medication and transportation needs and helped fill other social service gaps and basic human needs that could impact their health.
Utilization of this fund is expected to remain high and more than $22,500 was raised at the CMH Foundation Auxiliary’s Annual Charity Ball in April 2009.
Cost of the ball is $75 per person.
Ferno, TimberTech, SHP Leading Design, Derringer and the Wilmington News-Journal have already stepped up as major event sponsors.
