Wreaths Across America takes place annually to pay tribute to those who have given us the liberties we enjoy today. On Dec. 12, the Highland County Honor Guard, Junior States of America Lynchburg-Clay, Junior American Citizens Buckley Eaglets, and Waw-wil-a-way NSDAR participated in the placing of a wreath by Jeremiah Tarr and Phillip Jacobs at the Veterans Memorial on the courthouse lawn. A ceremony included the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, a Tribute to the Armed Forces, a 21-gun salute and the playing Taps.
