To date, four Hillsboro restaurants are putting up their best recipes in a Christmas Chili Cook-off at Bayview Campground & Cottages on Saturday, Dec. 11.
Three Spoons Diner, Beechwood Pizza, Snappy Tomato Pizza, and Ponderosa have committed to bringing crockpots of chili to the event, which is open to the public.
A local 4-H club is bringing goat chili to promote agribusiness.
Any business or organization wanting to compete needs to register by calling or visiting Bayview on North Shore Dr.
The event runs from 4-7 p.m. with a roaring bonfire setting the backdrop for a wintery celebration. Chili serving times are 4-6 p.m. Santa will visit at 5 p.m. to light the natural Christmas tree and to pass out treats to children.
Tickets for the event are $4/adult and $2 for children ages 5-10. They are available at the Bayview Outpost. Chili and coffee are included. Hot chocolate and warm cider will be available for purchase.
Each ticketholder may vote for their favorite chili. Winners will select the charity they wish to receive a donation from ticket proceeds.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own drink mugs, chairs and blankets. Parking is plentiful in the campground. Heated restrooms will be open. Campsites are available.
Bayview Campground & Cottages is located at 11104 N. Shore Drive on Rocky Fork Lake. For additional information, contact Amy Warren at 937-393-3119.
