The seasons have changed and holiday celebrations are around the corner. And on Saturday, Nov. 28, the Hillsboro Uptown Business Association will present the annual Hillsboro Holiday Parade. This is the second year the association has organized the parade for the city of Hillsboro.
The parade will start at 4 p.m. from the Highland County fairgrounds.
Linda Allen, executive director of SATH (Supplemental Assistance to the Handicapped), will be honored as this year’s grand marshal during the parade.
“We want everyone to bring their kids to the parade and have a good time,” Hillsboro Uptown Business Association President Rachelle Trefz said. “Santa will make an appearance in the parade this year. He will also be available after the parade at the firehouse for pictures.”
The parade committee this year consists of Dorothy Hodson, Tom and Mary Jane Stevens, Joni Pulse, Amber Pulse, Brian Melleby and Trefz.
“Our parade announcers will be Brian Vance and Alex Butler,” Trefz said. “All of our volunteers are such a great help.”
Trefz said to enter a float in this year’s parade, at no charge, please contact her by no later than Saturday, Nov. 21.
The parade was originally organized by the late Irene Parr. The tradition was continued by her daughter, Carol Robinson, until her passing. HUBA took over the parade last year.
“This is just a chance to bring people uptown and it’s a goodwill gesture from the association,” Trefz said. “We want everyone to enjoy the parade.”
The Highland Amateur Radio Association (HARA) will be in charge of lineup at the fairgrounds the day of the parade.
Volunteers for the parade are also welcome. To volunteer or to enter a float, contact Trefz at (937) 840-0701.[[In-content Ad]]
