Firefighters to hold public safety day

The Highland County Firefighters Association will host the 15th Annual Public Safety Day on Sunday, June 12.
It will start at noon and end at 2:30 p.m. and will be held at the Hillsboro Kroger, 575 Harry Sauner Rd.
There will be numerous fire trucks, life squads and police vehicles on display. Departments attending will be Hillsboro, Paint Creek, Leesburg, Lynchburg, Mowrystown, Brushcreek and Marshall Fire and Life Squads, Highland County Sheriff, Greenfield, Hillsboro, Lynchburg and Leesburg Police Departments, Ohio State Highway Patrol, DARE, New Vienna Fire Department, Highland County Emergency Management and others.
Activities will include:
• Auto extrication, demonstrated by the Brushcreek Fire Department.
• Children can spray water, with the assistance of Leesburg and Marshall Fire Departments.
• Fingerprinting for the kids by the Greenfield Police Department.
• Hazmat equipment display -- Highland County EMA
Helicopters from Medflight & Miami Valley Careflight (emergencies may keep them away).
• Fire Pup, blood pressure checks, free safety handouts and other events during the day.
• Music will be provided by Pokey's DJ and Karaoke Service. Snacks will be served and there will be games for the kids. There will also be a safety trailer to help show children what they should do in a smoke-filled environment.[[In-content Ad]]
