Brush & Palette Art Guild show set for June 18-19

"Highland County Sights" is the theme of this year's 54th annual Brush & Palette Art Guild show held at Southern State Community College's Hillsboro campus from 1- 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19.
The 2010 People's Choice Award winner will be exhibited in the atrium. This oil painting created by Helen Horner, titled "God's Grace," also won Best of Division for a non-professional. Members will be featuring paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor as well as drawings in pastel, ink, graphite and color pencil. Many of the artists are now experimenting with mixed media. It is the desire of the Brush & Palette Art Guild to share ideas, interests and skills with the community to further promote the visual arts.
The judge this year is M. Katherine Hurley. M. Katherine is from a small Ohio town called Gates Mills. Her passion for landscape painting was cultivated from her love of the outdoors: riding horses, surrounded by peaceful valleys and rolling hills. Hurley received her BFA at the College of Mt. St. Joseph in Cincinnati. She also studied at The Art Academy of Cincinnati. M. Katherine is a member of the Pastel Society of America. She has exhibited in Europe and has artwork in several galleries in the USA.
