Altrusa of Highland County earns awards at District Five Conference
Altrusa of Highland County received several awards at the recent Altrusa District Five Conference hosted by the Akron club and held in North Canton.
The club was awarded the Membership Award, which is sponsored by the Washington Court House club, for the highest increase in membership in the district at 14.9 percent.
The club was also honored to receive the Letha H. Brown Literacy Award for its literacy projects in local communities. This project titled, “A Literacy Project – Windows to the World,” now moves on to the International level and those results will be announced at the Altrusa International Convention this July in Quebec.
Altrusa of Highland County was very honored to receive the Governor’s Award which was presented by District Governor Tammy Bader. She selected our club for best exemplifying revitalization in the last year.
During the presentation, Governor Bader acknowledged our growth in membership, welcoming new members, and our commitment to various literacy projects in our communities. She noted that we provide new books each year to students K-5 at all schools in the county and have built and continue to maintain 11 Little Free Libraries.
Several club members attended the conference and are pictured with Governor Bader presenting her award. Attending from Highland County were Mary Stanforth, Karyn Evans, Paula Kiser, Sherri Helterbrand, Gina Earley, and Connie Williams.
